Edizione: first illustrated edition. this special edition of hemingway’s 1952 classic story contains illustrations from two different artists. originally tunnicliffe and sheppard were considered as competitors in the selection of an illustrator, but the publishers thought that the two rather different interpretations of the story were so interesting that both were included in the final printing of this first illustrated edition. <br> eric linklater for the broadsheet states, “hemingway has written nothing so beautiful as this brief tale, and nowhere, i think has his vision of heroic scars of live been so surely realized.” a landmark edition of this enduring work.
