8vo., First Edition, with coloured frontispiece (original tissue guard present) and 37 plates in monochrome, title and fore-edges very lightly spotted, text block clean and crisp; original series binding of decorative red buckram, sides with multiple frame border enclosing title all in gilt, gilt back, backstrip faded and chipped at headband, joints rubbed else a good, firm working copy. Sold from an institution with its press-mark and pocket on front endpapers. With publisher's 40pp general catalogue bound in at rear. One of the scarcest titles in Methuen's excellent 'Antiquary's Books' edited by J. Charles Cox.
