Marcus de Schnurbein

Ritratto di Marcus von Schnurbein (1671-1746), dal 1718 finanziatore della camera di corte di Innsbruck e dal 1724 del vescovo di Augusta; dal 1724 gestì anche una manifattura d'oro e d'argento a Köthen e dal 1728 investì nella rendita di rame nero e argento dell'industria mineraria di Mansfeld-Eisleben-Hettstedt. Mezzotinto, 1740 circa, firmato in lastra in basso a destra. Magnifica prova, ricca di toni, impressa su carta vergata coeva, rifilata al rame, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Johann Jacob Haid o Johann Jakob Haid (1704-1767) fu un incisore tedesco che lavorò ad Augusta. Haid proveniva da una famiglia tedesca di artisti e incisori ed era noto per i grandi ritratti a mezzatinta. Lavorò in Inghilterra ed è stato ipotizzato che abbia preso in prestito il lavoro di Robert Robinson (1651 circa - 1706), popolare incisore inglese a mezzatinta, pittore e scenografo. Haid realizzò anche opere botaniche dopo Bartholomäus Seuter [de] (1678-1754) e con Johann Elias Ridinger, e lavorò alla "Phytanthoza iconographia" di Johann Wilhelm Weinmann. Haid came from a German family of artists and engravers and was known for large mezzotint portraits. He worked in England, and it has been suggested that he borrowed from the work of Robert Robinson (c. 1651 – 1706), who was a popular English mezzotint engraver, painter, and stage designer.
