Maximilien Luce è stato uno dei più importanti esponenti del movimento neoimpressionista. Pittore, incisore e acquerellista, Joseph-Victor Roux-Champion (1871 - 1953) fu introdotto all'Accademia Jullian e poi allo studio di Gustave Moreau dove incontrò Georges Rouault, Albert Marquet e soprattutto Henri Matisse. La scoperta dell'arte di Paul Gauguin nella galleria Durand-Ruel lo porta a soggiornare a Pont-Aven nel 1896, un viaggio che sarà per lui decisivo. Dal 1904, Joseph-Victor si reca spesso in Provenza dove incontra il pittore Auguste Renoir a Cagnes-sur-Mer. Vernis-mou, 1927 circa. Excellent example. ' Painter, engraver and watercolourist, Joseph-Victor Roux-Champion (1871 – 1953) ' was introduced to the Jullian Academy and then to Gustave Moreau's studio where he met Georges Rouault, Albert Marquet and especially Henri Matisse. The discovery of the art of Paul Gauguin in the gallery Durand-Ruel led him to stay in Pont-Aven in 1896, a trip that was for him decisive.
