La terza, ultima e migliore edizione della celebre opera (prima edizione: 1728); questa edizione contiene la prima descrizione della pyorrhoea alveolaris. Cf.: Poletti, Re dentaria, 42; Garrison & M. 3671; Heirs of Hippocrates 785; Norman 768. PMM 186: «(Fauchard) describes in the fullest detail the procedure in operative dentistry, in the filling of teeth and most especially in prothesis... He was especially novel in his methods for correcting irregularities and was the first, for example, to describe the use of metal bands or braces for this purpose... He used antiseptic methods in filling teeth long before the germ theory of infection... Fauchard was the true pioneer of dental surgery».
Third, last and best edition of this fundamental work on dentistry (1st edn.: 1728). This edition contains the first account of pyorrhoea alveolaris. With an engr. portrait and 42 engr. plates showing dental and surgical instruments, teeth, various types of protheses, etc. Lacking half title in vol.
