Contemporary pebbled half calf over pebbled boards. Spine with gilt bands and title (of the Journal). = An important work on the marine Neogene molluscs of Sumatra (Indonesia) by the British malacologist Henry Woodward (1832-1921). Many of the well-preserved and well-illustrated specimens represent species described as new by Woodward, and still valid today. The paper, in four parts, was "published with the authority and assistance of the Dutch-Indian Government". This is the complete issue of the Geological Magazine for 1879, with many other palaeontological contributions. Boards and spine rubbed; stamps on title and plate versos (not shining through), otherwise very good. Rare.
