A LIBRI ANTICHI
I libri, strumenti di lettura e fonti di un appassionato collezionismo, si dividono in due categorie: i libri antichi o rari e il cosiddetto “modernariato”. La linea di confine, tra i due, è posta tradizionalmente all’anno 1830.
Fino a quella data il libro era considerato un oggetto artigianale, con i pregi e i difetti che ne conseguono; tutte le sue parti costitutive (dalla confezione della carta alla legatura) erano il prodotto di processi manuali, motivo per cui, fino agli inizi del XIX secolo, la tiratura media era di circa 300 copie.
