First edition of the book and a leaf from the first edition of Whitman's LEAVES OF GRASS. With a frontispiece portrait of Norton and F. J. Child from a photograph taken circa 1854. 4to, publisher's original green cloth gilt lettered on the upper cover and spine. In the very scarce original plain paper dustjacket. 31 pp. + leaf from the first edition of LEAVES OF GRASS. A very fine copy, the text-block still largely unopened, the green cloth essentially pristine. The original 1855 leaf from the first edition of LEAVES OF GRASS well preserved.
