Descripción
Sidney, The Linnean Society of New South Wales, 1901. 8vo (23.0 x 14.6 cm). 183 pp., 14 (groups of) text figures, five plates. Original printed wrappers. = This work contains a sketch of the history of marine conchology in Tasmania, a systematic list of species, a catalogue of synonyms, and critical remarks on some species, including diagnoses of several new species. Written by the Austalian malacologists and palaeontologists Ralph Tate (1840-1901) and William Lewis May (1861-1925). Many type specimens of species described earlier by Tenison-Woods are illustrated. Tate became ill and died before correcting all the proofs. According to an editorial note, Charles Hedley finished the work. The first text page is printed on the front wrapper verso. The wrappers are of inferior paper, and, therefore, chipped at the edges (the front wrapper much less affected than the rear wrapper). Published in the Society's Proceedings. Uncut. A very good, clean copy.
