Original uniform green buckram with gilt title on the spines. Top edges gilt. = A thorough and beautifully illustrated work on the mammals, birds, herpetology, and vertebrate fossils of the northern part of Scotland. Includes the description of new fossils. Ornithology forms the largest part, but the herpetology (recent and fossil) and mammalogy are well-represented too. Publisher's catalogue bound in the rear of vol. II. Half title to volume I spotted, binding of volume I a bit darkened, with the gilt printing rather dull; bookplate removed from the front free endpaper recto of volume II, otherwise a very good, complete set, with all the plates in very good condition. Wood, p. 379; not in Nissen.
