RARE 6th VOLUME of all issues from the year 1845 of the influential French Jewish review, founded in 1840 by Samuel Cahen, author of a French translation of the Hebrew Bible. Among its first contributors were G. Weil (Ben-Levi), O. Terquem, Solomon Munk, Gerson Lévy, Rabbi M. Charleville, Ph. Luzzatto, Albert Cohn, A. Darmesteter, A. Widal, and E. Carmoly. 210X130mm. 1004 pages. Green board Hardcover with gilt brown leather spine. Cover rubbed, cover edges worn and partly peeling, cover corners bumped and peeling. Spine stained and rubbed, spine upper edge tattered, spine front hinge upper hinge peeling. Small sticker and several small wormholes on spine front hinge bottom edge. Ex-library copy with sticker on front inner cover, pen marks on whitepage upper edge and stamp on title-page, pages 255, 537 and 1004. Binding slightly visible between first and second whitepages. Page 33-34 bottom edge wrinkled - no damage to text. Pages yellowing and age-stained, several pages dog-eared. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare collection of all 1845 issues of one of the most important 19th century French Jewish periodicals is in good condition.
