Beautiful congratulatory letter to the author or impresario of what was most likely a dramatization of "Uncle Tom's Cabin", involving children: "I received your favor of the 21st & am pleased to know that your dramatic entertainment passed off so successfully. It would have given me great pleasure to have heard the children recite the dialogues you selected from my writings. With hearty congratulations & best wishes to yourself & the children I remain [.]". - Stage adaptations of Stowe's famous novel were successfully performed by theatrical companies throughout the North in the late 19th century. - On mourning paper. Well preserved.
