Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "'Was du tun mußt, tue bald' ist von jeher mein Wahlspruch gewesen [.]". - Specializing in landscape painting, Morgenstern took study tours to France, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland. He taught at the Breslau Kunstgewerbeschule from 1883 to 1913. - Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
