Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ich komme Ihrem Wunsche gern nach als Ihr ergebener [.]". - Inspired by his native Rhineland, especially Menzenberg, Reifferscheid frequently painted the local scenery and people. Between 1901 and 1914 he depicted characteristic traits of contemporaries including Adalbert Stifter and Theodor Storm, focusing not on their appearance but on aspects of their personality. - Traces of folds near right corners; some small ink spots and traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
