Contemporary grained quarter calf over pebbled boards. Edges speckled red. = Very rare mongraph on crustaceans, in particular gammarid shrimps, of Lake Baikal, renowned for its unique and diverse fauna, which is now much endangered due to polution. The plates show a great variation, including several extremely colourful species. Nearly all are described as new. Published as a supplement to the Horae Societatis Entomologicae Rossicae. Bound for the Entomological Society of London, with their logo on the spine foot, and their small stamp on the front pastedown, and plate versos (not shining through); and larger stamp on title page lower margin; Spine a bit rubbed, more so at ends; scattered marginal foxing to the text, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
