Small 8vo, publisher's original green diced cloth covered boards blind with a gilt pictorial decoration to the upper cover, the spine with gilt lettering and additional gilt pictorial decorations, with a Lake District Index Map to the front end-leaves and advertisements to those at the end. xxvxii, 283, [1] + 16 + [4] ads. A pleasing survival in very good condition, some minor foxing.

Edizione: early edition in original cloth with the folding map. black's went through many editions and remains popular and a usable guide even at the present time. illustrations abound within the covers and a good history and description of the area is included. a famous guide book for a wonderful area of england.
