Descripción

[Amsterdam,] Ploos van Amstel, 1782. Oblong sheet of thick laid paper (17.5 x 27.8 cm). = A fine, drawing-like print by the Dutch merchant, print maker and amateur painter, Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798), after the 17th-century Dutch painter Allaert van Everdingen (1617-1675). The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam owns several of his works. Ploos van Amstel owned one of the most famous 18th-century art collections. He copied original, 16th - 18th century drawings, etchings and paintings by hand, and by a secret printing process that resulted in very accurate replicas, of which this is one. Signed on the rear: "All. v. Everdingen del. Ploos van Amstel J. C. F. 1782". Trimmed to edges, very slight age-toning, otherwise in very good condition.
