Marbled edges. = The second edition of a work first published in 1871. In the preface, the author presents a zoogeographical subdivision of Europe and adjacent northern Africa in four zones and 12 sub-regions. It lists names, original publications, distributions, and occasional taxonomical notes. Previous owner's name (an unknown 19th- or early 20th-century malacologist) written on the front free endpaper recto; small stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the title page.
