Anatolian coins monographs series; V."Candelore, as westerners called in medieval times, or Alaiye, the name it had gained after the date when Seljuk Sultan 'Ala al-Din Kayqubad conquered it, was one of the most important ports located in Anatolian's Mediterranean coast. Several merchants from Egypt and Syria came to Alaiye, which was a real Turkish trading city, and Egyptians met their timber needs from here. As it was a neighbour of Cyprus Island, close relationships were forced here.".
