Osaka, Hoikusha, 1961. 8vo (22.5 x 16.3 cm). 239 pp.; several text illustrations, 72 full colour plates (first not numbered, the others numbered 1-71). Original green cloth in pictorial full colour dust jacket and original patterned transparent sleeve. All combined in original full colour cardboard slipcase. = A fine example of Japanese multi-colour printing. One of several editions. Many contain important changes in taxonomy, including new names. Text all in Japanese but with Latin nomenclature. This 1961 edition is one of the rarer varieties. Provenance: bookplate of the Monica Library mounted on the front free endpaper verso. Slight wear to the slipcase, otherwise very good, clean.
