Monsieur Frère du Roi, 1821. 8vo (20.0 x 12.3 cm). 20 pp. Later marbled wrappers. = A very rare treatise on the cultivation of the Arachis hypogea (peanut) based on a Spanish manuscript given to the French agronome Marquis de Caumels by Juan Lahore, general consul of Spain in Bayonne and Marseille, and - later - in Paris. Little is known about de Caumels. The Bibliothèque national de France lists him without date of birth and death. perhaps this is Alexandre-Marie Marquis de Chaumels born in 1788. A very good, clean copy. Neither in Pritzel nor in Stafleu and Cowan.
