From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Bleached spine, otherwise very good and clean. / Verblichener Rcken, sonst sehr gut und sauber. - Contents: Preface -- Abbreviations -- Sigla -- Text -- Apparatus criticus -- Commentary -- Essay -- Addenda -- Addendis addenda -- Bibliography -- Greek Index -- General Index. - This commentary on Euripides Cyclops is the first to appear in English for over 50 years. Dr. Ussher has taken into account all the research bibliography which has accumulated over the years on this important Euripidean play and in the course of his commentary he has shed new light on many debated passages of the play. Dr. Ussherss commentary aims at offering a textual, linguistic, grammatical and metrical interpretation of Euripides Cyclops, thus providing scholars with a useful tool of research for the understanding of Euripidean art. - Dr. Ussher, a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and of The Queens University Belfast, is at present Reader in Greek and Latin at the University of Ulster. He has published an edition with commentary of Theophrastus Characters and an edition with commentary of Aristophanes Ecclesiazousae', he has also published numerous research papers in the major Classics periodicals. He is at present writing a monograph on Aristophanes for the Greece and Rome series.
