Wien, Alfred Hölder, 1897. Large 8vo (23.6 x 16,7 cm). xii, 344 pp.; eight steel-engraved plates, 28 text illustrations. Early 20th-century half cloth over grained two-toned boards. Gilt title on the spine. Patterned endpapers. = A rare work with very nice illustrations of the landscapes and animals of the Donau lowlands in Austria and Hungaria. The author is perhaps better known for his works on ammonites. Text in Fraktur lettertype. A bit age-toned, but otherwise a very good, clean and unmarked copy.
