Gilt edges. = Rare contribution on the cirripeds by, arguably, Darwin's successor, the Duch marine zoologist Paulus Peronius Cato Hoek (1851-1914) who later - on the advise of Darwin - would describe the Cirripedia of the Challenger Expedition. Spine cover chipped and discoloured, boards also rather faded, some light spotting, otherwise very good. Not in Nissen.
