All edges red. German translation of the famous "Catechisme de Montpellier" written by Francois-Aimé Pouget at the instigation of Charles Joachim Colbert (1667-1738), bishop of Montpellier. The copy at hand includes all three parts of the work as well as the catechism for older and younger children. The writings of Colbert, a fervent Jansenist, were condemned by Rome; the present edition is authorized by the Catholic church. - Contemporary bookplate of the monastery Maria Jeutendorf in Lower Austria to front pastedown. Modern ownership stamp of the Jeutendorf library to flyleaf. Slight worming near the end and along the spine with slight loss of text to the title label, somewhat browned and brownstained throughout.
