Brill, 1855. 8vo (23.4 x15.2 cm). xvi, 256 pp. Original printed wrappers. = Rare, early monograph on the mammals of western Africa, by the foremost Dutch vertebrate zoologist (chiefly ornithologist) of the 19th century, Coenraad Jacob Temminck (1778-1858). It includes the descriptions of new species. Although intended to be the first part of a series - perhaps with similar monographs on the birds and other animals - this is all that was published. Uncut. Spine cover abraded, binding weak, otherwise a very good, clean and unmarked copy.
