Descripción
A UNIQUE COPY OF THE FIRST AND ONLY EDITION OF THIS GROUNDBREAKING STUDY. 2 leaves, 180 pp + 17 etched plates, complete. Vicaire (V, 8-9) affirms that there are no large-paper copies of this book, but the copy we offer proves him wrong: it is printed with large margins on spectacular chamois wove paper, with three of the plates in two states and one of the plates in three states--and the original drawing for one of the plates, with decorations in color and gold. It is furthermore one of very few copies with the half-title and the title printed in colors and gold leaf--a spectacular example of 19th-century color printing (these two leaves are also present printed in black, for comparison.) Bookplates of Abbé Bouffard, G.R. Piclin, and J.M. (not identified). 4to. Attractively bound in contemporary quarter calf and decorated boards. Light wear to extremities of binding, internally FINE AND BRIGHT. Possibly unique in this state.
