In addition to being a vital force in the early years of the Museum s Fine Arts Department, Goodyear was dedicated to research in art history and architectural theory, which he began pursuing during his post-collegiate education in Europe and continued until his final days at the Brooklyn Museum. He spent much of his life developing and promoting his theory of architectural refinements, often lecturing and exhibiting on the subject and attracting both supportive and critical reactions. Goodyear s professional work and research had an influence on the fields of museology, art, and architectural history and his accomplishments have left an enduring impression.
