Moskau, M. Arlt, 1860. 4to (28.2 x 21.3 cm). 214 pp. 20th century marbled boards with title label mounted on front board. Marbled edges. = Hans Rudolph Hermann (1805-1879) was a German mineralogist who worked in Moscow and had a great mineral collection. The first edition of his important chemical classification of crystals was first published in 1855 in the Nouveau Memoires de la Société Impériale des Naturalists de Moscou. This second, much enlarged edition including an index was published as a supplement to the same journal. He also published an "Allgemeine Beschreibung der Mineralien-Sammlung von R. Hermann". Some foxing in the text, otherwise a very good copy. Cat. BM(NH) 2, p. 830.
