The last book illustrated by Falke, who in fact died before it was published. With a suite of 14 original etchings printed on seven double folio sheets. In these etchings Falke achieves a spontaneity and economy of line reminiscent of the style of Matisse and Dunoyer de Segonzac. Edition limited to 150 numbered copies beautifully printed on fine, stiff handmade Montval wove paper, with the etchings printed on an equally fine but considerably softer paper made by the same manufacturer. This copy was originally printed for Dr. Fernand Lemaitre of the Cercle Lyonnais du Livre, and was later owned by Luis de Caralt, the Barcelona publisher who was Spain's leading collector of modern illustrated books.
