AN EXTREMELY ORIGINAL AND RARE LIVRE D'ARTISTE, with Luneau's text in first edition and five cardboard plates by Jeanne Frère. Each plate is decorated with gouache and features mounted samples from trees: nine cross-sections of branches, eight length sections of brances, eight samples of bark, and three paper-thin samples of wood. From a total edition of 35 numbered copies, this is one of 30 with the text printed on fine Arches wove paper. SIGNED in the justification / colophon by the author and the artist. Square 4to. Contents loose as issued in the original cloth folding case (also hand-painted by Frère.) FINE AND BRIGHT, with no defects.
