Original printed front wrapper of the Atti della R. Accademia dei Lincei. Memorie XV. = Important and rare monograph of brown algae of the Mediterranean Sea, with new taxa. Most plates show whole specimens, a few are cell-biological. Author is the Italian botanist, and staff member of the zoological station in Napels, barone Raffaello - or Raffaele - Valiante, about whom very little else is known. Written in Italian. Also published as part of the series, Fauna und Flora des Golfes von Neapel und der angrenzenden Meeres-Abschnitte herausgegeben von der zoologischen Station zu Neapel, as Part VII. Monographie: Die Cystoceiren (despite the German title written in Italian too). Uncut. Front wrapper detached. Without ant foxing. A very good copy. Quite rare. Neither in Nissen BBI, nor in Stafleu and Cowan.
