An outstanding copy of an outstanding livre d'artiste devoted to the glamorous and sensual side of early 20th-century Saigon, illustrated with 53 ORIGINAL ETCHINGS, mostly with drypoint and aquatint, by Henri Le Riche, one of the great masters of color etching. From a total edition of 300 numbered copies, this is ONE OF 100 ON IMPERIAL JAPANESE PAPER. This copy includes (A) A remarque suite, also on Imperial Japanese paper, of the 36 color-printed en-têtes, in first state without text; (B) A remarque suite of the 17 hors-texte etchings in first state, before the reduction of the plates; (C) A suite of the 17 hors-texte etchings in second state, before the reduction of the plates; (D) The two planches refusées in two states, with and without remarque.
