Ce saint n'est mentionne ni par la 'Bibliotheca Hagiographica Orientalis' ni par les dictionnaires hagiographiques. Le texte de sa vie est donne par deux versions arabes, le Paris arabe 259 et le Saidnaya 94. Ce dernier manuscrit est inconnu de Graf et de Nasrallah. Les deux versions, presentant de notables divergences textuelles, sont publiees l'une a la suite de l'autre. Selon John C. Lamoreaux, "Taken as a whole, the Life of Timothy of Kakhushta offers a vivid glimpse of the religious life of the Syrian countryside in the early Abbassid period" (Intr. p. 10).
