Now the standard reference for Maxime Old (1910- 1991) one of the leading furniture designers in France from the mid 1930's to the 1980's. He was born into a long line of cabinet makers in France and Germany. As a young man he joined the Jacques Emile Ruhlman design team where he worked until 1934 when Ruhlman died and his shop was closed. Orders from Ruhlman's old clients helped Maxime decide to open his own shop a few years later on the Avenue Hoch in Paris. Illustrated in color and black & white. Color photographs on almost every page show the major works of Maxime Old. The black & white photographs are vintage and show both individual pieces and room settings.
