Descripción
No marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked gilt embossed boards and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn or creased. Now protected in fully-removable transparent sleeve. 127pp. The story of the mail order company Empire Stores based in Bradford Yorkshire. The firm originated in the humble trade of a travelling pedlar who took to the road in 1820. The mail order part of the business was set up in 1962 as one of the first in the field to supply many of the necessities of life to the very poor on credit terms they could afford. Tucked in is a compliment slip for the Jubilee Celebration of 1821 - 1981.
