Edizione: presentation copy from the artist to his parents, and a fine copy indeed of this handsome collection of philadelphia watercolours. watson was a highly regarded african-american watercolorist, landscape artist, illustrator and teacher. he is best remembered for his impressionistic watercolors of historical buildings, streets, neighborhoods and landmarks in the philadelphia region, such as the images found within the pages of this book. although born in pottsville, watson adopted philadelphia as his home and called the city "kind of my first love".<br> the introduction is by the second of three generations of philadelphia philanthropist with the name john b. kelly. among several claims to distinction, he was the brother of princess grace of monaco. his son, john b. kelly iii, serves as the president of the us chapter of the prince albert ii of monaco foundation.
