Philadelphia, PA, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, 1862. Seven issues in seven. 8vo (25.0 x 15.5 cm). 626, iii pp. Original uniform printed wrappers. = The ANSP Proceedings were the foremost zoological journal in the U.S.A., being especially strong in Mollusca and ornithology. Authors in this early volume include Asa Gray (plants), Cope (herpetology), Coues (birds), Tryon (much on molluscs), Gill (ichthyology, many papers), Isaac Lea, John Cassin (new birds), John Leconte (insects, several papers) and Timothy Conrad (shells). By mistake, the issue number 9 (September) is used twice. Numbers I-II cover January-February 1862, II-IV March-April, V. April-May, VI June, VII-IX July, August and September, IX [bis] September, X-XII October, November, December. Page numbering is entirely consecutive. Uncut. Wrapper edges a bit soiled, frayed and or/chipped, as usual with uncut copies. A good, complete volume. Rare.
