Photo album (237x285 mm) containing 16 photographs (125x175 mm) each applied to a paper leaf plus 1 leaf with the pasted title and 6 leaves left empty. Each photo is accompanied by a brief explanatory text pasted below or aside and is protected by a tissue guard. The photos show the lecturers Hans Michael Frank (1900-1946), Reich Minister; Rudolf Lencer (1901-1945), Head of the Reich Association of Banks and Insurance; and Robert Ley (1890-1945), Head of the German Labour Front. They also depict the German delegation meeting with their Italian counterparts at the Frankfurt am Main station; the conference venues, the “Saalbau” and the “Hippodrom”, with views of the 3,000-person audience and the stage filled with honoured guests; and a close-up portrait of Dr. Ley, District Governor Sprenger, and Standartenführer Hans Goebbels in the “Hippodrom”. Original binding in full grey cloth with red leather closing strip. Leaf with final photo detached, final photo slightly stained, all in all well preserved.
The Reich Association of Banks and Insurance was a body established to represent and regulate the banking and insurance sectors under the Nazi regime, effectively placing them under state control. Such conferences were significant events during this period, as they served to advance broad economic and political objectives, including using the financial sector to support expansionist and racial policies. The Frankfurt am Main conference, which included a delegation from Italy, arguably focused on aligning the banking and insurance industries with the regime's objectives. Topics of discussion included financing rearmament and the “Aryanization” of Jewish-owned enterprises, as well as other policies useful to the Nazi agenda.
