Descripción

Washington, DC, Government Printing Office, 1873. 8vo (22.1 x 13.6 cm). Title page, 484 pp. [numbered 295-778]; 37 lithographed plates with explanatory text leaves. Brown buckram with gilt title on the spine. = An important regional work, written by the malacologist Addison Emery Verrill (1839-1926), and several colleagues. The first chapters are more general in nature; the Mollusca occupy pp. 634-755 and plates 20-34. This is an offprint from the Report on the condition of the sea fisheries of the south coast of New England in 1871 and 1872. Copy of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020), with his stamp in the top margin of the title. Also inscribed by the American malacologist Morris Karl[mann] Jacobson (1906-1980). A very good, clean copy.
