Descripción

First edition, early reissue. 8vo, publisher's original green cloth binding, gilt lettering on spine and on the upper cover within gilt ruled frame with additional gilt decor. 192pp. Internally a fine copy, the text clean and fresh, the hinges strong and tight, the textblock sturdy, externally a very good copy with the gilt on the spine faded as is almost always the case with this title.

Edizione: excellent literature of the first world war. robert service wrote this series of war ballads while serving as an ambulance driver with the canadian army in france. a fine piece of world war one literature that the eager public made a great success. service was an interesting character; the english born, scottish raised young man emigrated to canada to be become a “sourdough” and then went on to write a series of popular ballads, novels, lyrics and autobiographies.
