A PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE AUTHOR WITH HER SIGNED HOLOGRAPH INSCRIPTION (DATED 1943) ON FRONT FREE ENDPAPER. Loving biography of Holtby by her close friend Vera Brittain. A wide-ranging writer and novelist, Holtby is now probably best remembered for 'South Riding'. Includes accounts of Holtby and Brittain revisiting the WWI battlefield areas in which they both served. Published in the same month as the first edition.
