Edizione: the cocktail party is a comedic play in verse form first produced on stage in 1949. the original cast of the production included [sir] alec guinness and irene worth and debuted at the edinburgh festival. it was his first play since 1939’s family reunion and his first work of verse since 1943’s four quartets.
