8vo., First Edition, with 38 plates on 16; cloth, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Formed at Kiel in 1935, the First Flotilla fought for nine years against increasing odds. The fame of many of its captains - Kretschmer, Topp and Suhren among them - could not prevent its few surviving crewmen fighting in trenches around the Brest citadel in September 1944.
