Original printed wrappers. = A rare volume from the one of the longest running and most influential ornithological magazines. Especially the earlier years, with fine plates by Keulemans, Grönvold and others, are very uncommon and sought-after. But this 1909 Jubilee volume, with portraits and short biographies of the foremost members of The British Ornithologist's Union, is quite uncommon and sought-after too. It contains a list of all members, including deceased, up to 1909, and quite a few short biographies, e.g., of H. E. Dresser, F. D. Godman, T. C. Jerdon, Lord Lilford, E. Newton, Osbert Salvin, P.L. Sclater, Alfred Russel Wallace, etc.; and a history of the Union itself, written by Sclater. Uncut.
