3 volumes. The new and best edition, revised and corrected. With over 645 finely accomplished plates throughout the three volumes presented in the text, as full-page cuts and with many lithographic coloured plates on separately printed pages as well as with many multi-page illustrations and folding maps and plans. Large, thick 8vo, publisher’s original dark-green cloth, beautifully decorated with gilt pictorial vignettes on the upper covers and lettered in gilt on the spines and upper covers, ruled in blind. xxx, 510; xii, 515; xi, 528 pp. A set in the original publisher’s beautifully decorated cloth bindings. The bindings have wear from use, with Vol. I and Vol. II showing only some normal rubbing or wear at the extremities, the text-blocks and illustrations very well preserved. Vol. III has become loose in its binding, which shows more wear than the other two volumes but can be recased if desired or left as it is. The plates are all in pleasing condition.
