The Nayaks of Tanjore ruled for a century and a half between the 16th and the 17th centuries AD, and it is the history of this dynasty that is the subject of this book. There are 10 chapters in this book that notice : the foundation of the Nayakship, Sevappa Nayak, Achyutappa Nayak, Raghunath Nayak, Govinda Dikshita, and Vijayaraghva Nayak. This monograph ends with a chapter on the features of the Nayak rule. There are 3 appendices that offer a chronological list of the inscriptions, and their grants to the Dutch.
