Sm. 8vo., with 200 coloured and monochrome plates, front free endpaper browned; original series binding of terracotta cloth, upper board blocked and lettered in black, backstrip lettered in black, a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter moderately age-marked and lightly frayed (without material loss) at head and tail of backstrip. Observer 1. Code 864.960 with 'Fieldfare' dustwrapper. 'The excellent illustrations and concise format of one bird per page made this book an enduring classic' (Marren & Carter).
