About the Book:-The Tamilian-Antiquary was a journal edited by D. Savariroyan, and was published between 1907-and 1914. It is altogether one of the healthiest and most suggestive books to be found in Tamil. It abounds in great thoughts felicitously expressed. Its lessons reach our hearts, inform our minds, quicken our finer sensibilities and elevate our whole moral being. Like all books of permanent value and excellence it ‘brings sunshine to our hearts and dispels moonshine from our brains.’ The complete set is in 12 thin volumes. The set contains many erudite articles on various well-known and not so well-known aspects of southern India. Volume one contains articles on: Bharat land or Dravidian India'; the solar and lunar races; ode to Cheruman Perum C.U. Cheralathan; the relation of the Pandavas to the Tamilian kings; and, on the words Chera and Kerala. Volume two contains a lengthy dissertation on the critical review of the story of the Ramayana, and an account of south Indian castes. Volume three contains a descriptive article on: some milestones of Tamil Literature, or the age of Tirujnana-Sambadha, by P. Sundaram Pillai; it contains a biographical sketch of the author. Volume four contains articles on Manikka Vacagar and his date; and on the early Christians of Malabar. Volume five has notices on: glimpses of ancient Dravidians; the Augustan age of Tamil literature etc., So this book is the product of extensive study and research of the Tamilian Antiquary of different periods to make it an indispensable one.
