Disbound. = A combination of one of Erlanger's last publications on the birds of northeastern Africa, with a fine, detailed, colour-printed map, showing the itineraries of his travels between 1899 and 1901, and his obituary, written by the German malacologist and zoogeographer Wilhelm Kobelt (1840-1916). The German ornithologist Carlo Freiherr von Erlanger (1872-1904) was the leading ornithological explorer of a region then as dangerous as it is now. Beating malaria and and many other dangers in Africa, he died suddenly, being one of the first to die in an automobile accident. Both papers disbound from the society's Berichten. Very good, clean.
